A Recipe For Life

Recently a friend just asked, what is my recipe for life?

I am clear that recipes are best if shared

A Recipe for Life

Take one quart of fear (you may substitute sadness, or combine equal portions of both), slowly simmer until it is slightly reduced and thickened, taste frequently until the taste of adventure and excitement become pronounced.

Add a couple of shots of good spirits (moonshine is perfect here).

A pinch of wood smoke, and a pinch of early morning mist from the woods.

Add a level cup of gratitude for how amazing your life is and how every moment has led you to this particular magic moment. Slowly stir in a dollop of connection to all of the world.

Add one tablespoon each of of music, dance and singing.

Add several drops of the essence of your creativity.

Add one clove of garlic, some sriracha, a pinch of saffron and a pinch of pot.

Allow to simmer (sometimes for years .... better for days, hours or even minutes)

Reduce the heat and add your heart, stir for just a moment and serve immediately.

Take a taste, notice a slight pleasant burn at first then, spreading through your whole being, the warmth of being loved, of loving, the joy of asking for what you want, and being grateful for what you get.

Notice at the back of your palate, the finish, a complex mixture of saying what you need to say, right now, not waiting for a better time, and the delicious terror of doing so.

Notice the slight nuance of joy from being a fool for love.
